Earmarked as one of the highest paying jobs in the world, the prospects for Electrical and Electronics engineer is heightening amid the hard economic woes. However, the one key obstacle which is surrounding the industry is the shortage of qualified and trained professionals.
Recognising the demand which is surfacing the industry,
KBU International College is offering an array of engineering programmes which focuses
not only on theories, but also complemented with stimulations, case studies,
practical laboratory sessions and projects. The School promotes fun-learning environment
which involves latest equipments and hands-on training that shapes the
engineers of tomorrow with skills to pioneer new developments, undertake design
and supervise production, to market, install and operate equipments.
The College’s School of Engineering and Computing
provides high quality courses that groom students to be successful engineering
professionals. The interaction helps students to quickly grasp skills,
techniques and methods used in the industry to face the ever evolving and
competitive corporate world.
For instance, under the Microelectronics module, students
are trained to use Mentor Graphics Software coupled with Altera FPGA/CLPD
development board to design and implement microelectronic systems. If this
sounds foreign to you- Mentor Graphics Corporation is a technology leader in
electronic design automation (EDA), providing software and hardware design
solutions that enable companies to develop better electronic products faster
and more cost-effectively. Altera is a market leader for FPGA/ CLPD products.
The usage of these leading-edge design tools help to
ensure that engineering graduates are proficient with state-of-art tools and
techniques in the microelectronic design industry.
Besides that, students will also be trained on how to
stimulate complex electronic engineering system using MATLAB and Simulink and
its associated toolbox. The MATLAB and Simulink are the world’s leading
technical computing software for engineers and scientists in the industry,
government and education. It is used to accelerate, reduce analysis and
development time to produce engineering system products in a shorter period of
time, giving engineers a competitive advantage.
If you think engineering subjects are too technical and
complicated, think again as KBU’s School of Engineering and Computing is a
strong advocate of fun learning activities and state-of-art equipments. Rather
than focusing on theories and text book learning, the school engages its
students with more hands-on trainings and activities to prepare them for the
competitive job market.
Other than that, the School also engages with leading
industry players to train and keep the students informed with the current
trends and innovations. Its very own Innovation Day serves as a platform where
students can rub shoulders with industry leaders to get hired instantly.
The annual event which
showcases final-year projects of School of Engineering and Computing students
is also a stepping stone for many of our students to be well-known in the
corporate world.
The College offers engineering and computing
programmes ranging from BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering, BSc
(Hons) Computer and Network Engineering, BSc (Hons) Software Engineering, BSc
(Hons) Information and Communications Technology, and NCC Level 4 Diploma in
Computing.
